F.P.S. ( Funai Production System )

A flexible production line designed toensure continuous improvements in productivity

The product cycle for consumer electronics continues to accelerate. When each change in this cycle requires upgrades to manufacturing equipment, significant losses can result. For this reason, we introduced our original Funai Production System to respond flexibly to such changes and implement day-to-day improvements; it is designed to accommodate almost unlimited increases in productivity. For example, our production line is divided into manual-labor segments and mechanized segments, which allows unrestricted product-specific control of the production line. Moreover, we can intentionally increase the workload on the production line by, for example, reducingthe number of workers on the line or increasing the conveyor speed; this enables us to discover potential problems and solve them in advance. With this approach, we can implement ongoing productivity improvements in the system.

 

* A Versatile F.P.S.
Occasionally, we intentionally increase the workload on a smoothly operating production line. We then determine where on the conveyor the suspension time has increased and take remedial measures to reduce teh line suspension time; by repeating this process, we can reduce labor and accelerate the conveyors. In this way, we can achieve almost unlimited improvements in productivity.

 

 

Optimized Production

Achieving even greater price competitiveness by avoiding country risk

Having taken into account a variety of conditions, we have integrated our production in the best regions and have adopted bulk purchasing, which has allowed us to increase our price competitiveness. For this reason, we have integrated our plant production in Southeast Asia, with an especially high ration of our production centered in China. Should an unforeseen incident occur in China, for example, our plant in Thailand, which manufactures wide-screen TVs and other audiovisual equipment, can take over the work; by diversifying risk, we are no longer dependent on production in China.
In June 2007, we started production at our plant in Poland, the country that serves as our production base in Europe. This plant will function as our supply base in Europe, which is the world's largest market for LCD TVs. This plant will enable us to substantially reduce the lead time between order submission to delivery, thus contributing to inventory reduction. Furthermore, by assembling products within Europe, we will be able to reduce import duties and gain preferential treatment through cuts in investment taxes, which enables us to further increase our competitiveness.
